About Quick Meal Spot
A Tokyo-based recipe blog built around the idea that good home cooking doesn't need to take a long time.
Where We Started
Quick Meal Spot was created in Tokyo in 2022 by a small team of home cooks who noticed a gap between elaborate food content and the practical reality of cooking on a busy schedule.
Inspired by Japanese kitchen culture — where simplicity, precision, and respect for ingredients are central — we set out to build a recipe blog that prioritises genuine usefulness over novelty.
Our recipes are tested in real home kitchens, using standard equipment and commonly available ingredients. We don't include steps that aren't necessary, and we don't make claims we can't support with a clear explanation.
Our Editorial Values
These principles guide every recipe and article we publish.
We test each recipe before publishing. Cooking times, temperatures, and quantities are verified so that the result is consistent for our readers.
We remove unnecessary steps. If a technique or ingredient doesn't improve the final dish, we don't include it. Our goal is efficiency without compromise.
Recipes use widely available ingredients and standard kitchen equipment. We do not assume specialist tools, unusual ingredients, or professional cooking experience.
We are clear about preparation time, difficulty, and yield. We do not exaggerate results or make misleading claims about our recipes.
We follow Japan's four distinct seasons and acknowledge how ingredient quality shifts throughout the year. Seasonal cooking often requires less effort and less seasoning.
This blog exists for our readers. We welcome feedback, recipe questions, and suggestions. Our contact page is always open.
